This class is a complete academic-atelier approach to the art of painting and drawing the figure, still life, portraiture, with color and composition. The course is designed to help beginners develop a progressive approach to the art of painting, and to help advanced students improve on their skills. Included in this course will be an in-depth one week color workshop in basic color theory, composing and using color. The workshop will be based on Mr. Adoquei's essage on "7 Immortal Laws of Color," which provides a broad range of skills and ideas the artist can use in order to create beautiful, attractive and engaging artworks and to gain different ways of using color in order to avoid repetition and boredom. The studio will be divided in groups with beginning students working on the basics of figure drawing and the fundamentals of oil painting; more advanced students will work on figure painting, portraiture, color composition and design. Within this framework, students will be taught a direct approach beginning with broad strokes, blocking masses of form, value and tones. Students will learn how to resolve problems toward a completed painting, while gaining control of the medium and skillful command of the materials. Techniques influenced by John Singer Sargent, Edgar Degas, Matisse and Cezanne.
