Barney Hodes

Mr. Hodes teaches figure sculpture, from small to life size, at The Art Students League and the National Academy School. He founded the New York Academy of Art with painter, Francis Cunningham, where he taught from 1983-86. Previous teaching positions include the Brooklyn Museum Art School, Fairleigh Dickinson, Friends Seminary and the University of North Carolina. He has exhibited widely in group shows at the Denise Bibro Gallery, The Art Students League, the Mayfair Festival in Allentown, the First Street Gallery and the University of Bridgeport. In the Spring of 2000 he had a solo exhibition at the Suffolk Community College.

His approach to sculpture can be summed up in a statement by Thomas Eakins- "Form is only another name for motion."
