Ying Li


An American born in Beijing China, Ying Li is an abstract painter and currently Chair of the Art Department, Haverford College, Haverford, PA. Ms. Li received a BA at the Anuyi Teachers' University, Hefei China and an MFA at Parsons School of Design, New York. In addition to her position at Haverford, where she has been on the faculty since 2000, she has also taught at the Western Carolina University, Syracuse University, the Maryland Institute College of Art, and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. Since 1999, she has served as a member of the Faculty of the International School of Art, Umbria, Italy during the summer months.

Ying Li has received number awards and grants, including two Fellowships at the Vermont Studio Center in 1999 and 2003, and through the invitational exhibition at the National Academy Museum, received the Edwin Palmer Memorial Prize for Painting in 2004.

Her solo exhibitions include the International School of Art Gallery in Montecastello di Bivio, Umbria, Italy, the Painting Center, New York, the Marie Salan Neuberger Campus Center Gallery, Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, PA., the Elizabeth Harris Gallery, New York, the Chubb Insturance Company, New York, Rike Center, University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, and the Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery, Haverford College. She has also participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions including the Lori Bookstein Fine Arts, New York, the Andrews Gallery, The College of William and Mary, Williamsberg, VA., the Korous Galleries, New York, Hofstra Museum, Hempstead, Long Island, the Dupont Gallery, Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA., the List Gallery, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA., the Museum of Rochefort-en-Terre, Brittany, France, among many others.
