James McElhinney
Mr. McElhinney has been a visiting Associate Professor of art at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, Assistant Professor of art, University of Colorado, Denver College of Arts and Media, and also teaches at the Art Students League. He received a BA from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, PA and MFA in painting from Yale University, School of Art. He also participated in summer programs at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and Philadelphia College of Art. His numerous solo exhibitions have included the Painting Center, NY, the William Havu Gallery, Denver, CO, the F.A.N. Gallery, PA, The Asheville Art Museum, NC, the Danville Museum of Fine Art and History, VA, Gilford College, Greensboro, NC among many others. He has also participated in numerous group shows nationwide. Mr. McElhinney has been the recipient of a Visual Artist's Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts an Artist in Residence Grant from the National Park Service and a University of Colorado, Denver Research Grant. His work is in private and public collections including the Denver Art Museum, the Asheville Art Museum, NC, Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, VA, Federal Reserve of Richmond and of Philadelphia, among many others.
