Rhoda Sherbell, NA

Sherbell has taught sculpture for many years at the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Students League, Hofstra University and at the National Academy School of Fine Arts.  She is a renowned portrait artist in sculpture, with commissions from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY as well as private commissions from Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel, Aaron Copland, among a host of other celebrities. She has exhibited widely both in solo and group exhibitions, and her work is found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the National Museum of American Art, the National Portrait Gallery, The National Art Museum of Sport, and the William Benton Museum of Art, Storrs, CT, among many others.


Sherbell was a participant in the Art in Embassy Program in Prague, Czech Republic. She has been awarded many grants and honors, including the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Ford Foundation Purchase Award and Grant, National Sculpture Society Gold and Bronze Medals and numerous awards for her sculptures at the National Academy of Design annual exhibitions, among numerous others.
