Born in New York, NY, 1933, painter Charles Apt earned a BFA from Pratt Institute and his early artistic training came from his grandfather, Sam Lumiere, a portrait photographer and his mother, Tami Apt, a designer of fine jewelry. He lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. He has taught at the National Academy School of Fine Art. He has had numerous exhibitions at the Loring Gallery, NY and MA; Dassin Gallery; Chapellier Gallery; Gallery 52, NJ; Talisman Gallery, OK; FAR Gallery, NY; Grand Central Art Galleries, NY; and the Saratoga Museum of Racing. Group shows include numerous exhibits at the American Watercolor Society, Pastel Society of American, and the National Arts Club. His work is included in the collections of Paine Webber; Chemical Bank; Celanese Foundation; and the American Stock Exchange. He is the recipient of awards from the Salmugundi Club; National Arts Club; Allied Artists of America; American Watercolor Club; and the Walter Biggs Memorial Award, National Academy.
