Born in Brooklyn, NY, 1924, sculptor Stanley Bleifeld earned a BFA from the Tyler School of Fine Arts, and both a BS in Education and an MFA at Temple University. He has taught at Silvermine Guild Art Center and Western Connecticut State College and is the director of the Bleifeld Sculpture Group, New Canaan, CT. Mr. Bleifeld lives and works in Weston, CT and Pietrasanta, Italy, and is represented by the Nedra Matteucci Galleries, Santa Fe, NM, and Total Arts, Taos, NM. Recent exhibitions have included the Century Association; Lyme Academy; Sala Gizasce, Pietrasanta; Park Avenue Atrium; Nature Center for Environmental Studies; New Canaan Llibrary; New Britain Museum of Art; FAR Gallery; and the Peridot Gallery, NY. His public commissions include the Father McGivney Memorial, New Haven, CT; U.S. Navy Memorial, Washington, DC; Marine Relief, Brookgreen Gardens, SC; Lone Sailor, Golden Gate, San Francisco; and he has designed the Medal of Liberty for the ACLU. His work has been included in shows at the American Federation of the Arts; Connecticut Commission on the Arts; Parrish Art Museum; and executed relief sculptures in the Vatican Pavilion, New York World's Fair. His work is in the collections of the Baseball Hall of Fame, NY; Tampa Bay Art Center; Brookgreen Gardens Museum; Museum of the City of New York; New Britain Museum of American Art; Pennsylvania State Museum. He is the recipient of the International Prize for Sculpture, Pietrasanta; The Century Association's Federation Internationale de la Medaille; Kenan Master Sculptor, Brookgreen Gardens; and he is a Tiffany Fellow.
