Painter James Bohary was born in Brooklyn, NY, 1940, and studied at New York University and the New York Studio School with Philip Guston. He currently teaches art at Binghamton University and Dartmouth College. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by Elizabeth Harris Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Elizabeth Harris Gallery; James Baird Gallery, St. John's, Newfoundland; J. Prats Gallery; Allan Stone Gallery; Dartmouth College Museum; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery; American Academy of Arts & Letters; Neuberger Museum, Purchase; Guild Hall Museum; Las Vegas Art Museum; Kachsiung Museum of Fine Art, Taiwan; and the Artgrafic Galeria d'Arte, Barcelona. His work is in the collections of the Art Gallery of Newfoundland; Hood Museum; Corcoran Gallery; Greenville Art Center; Indiana University Art Museum; University of Notre Dame; University of Texas, Austin; University of Kentucky; and Valparaiso University. He is the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant; CAPS Grant; numerous awards from the American Academy of Arts & Letters; National Endowment for the Arts Grant; and numerous awards from the National Academy Museum.
