Born in Pittsburgh, PA, 1934, graphic artist Harvey Breverman earned a BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MFA from Ohio University. He has taught at Illinois State University; University of Michigan; University of Indiana; Skidmore College; Maryland Institute; Oxford University's Ruskin School, England; Pont Aven School of Art, Brittany; and is currently Distinguished Professor, SUNY, Buffalo. He lives and works in Buffalo, NY. Recent exhibitions include the FAR Gallery, NY; Gadatsky Gallery, Toronto; Indiana University Art Gallery; Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Kanazawa Art Museum, Japan; Whitechapel Art Gallery, London; Butler Institute of American Art; Babcock Galleries, NY; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; "Jewish Themes: Contemporary Artists," Jewish Museum; and Yeshiva University Museum, NY. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; Jewish Museum; Albright Knox Art Gallery; National Museum of American Art; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He is a recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant; Netherlands Government Grant; CAPS Grant; American Academy of Arts & Letters Award; two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships; and the 2003 Distinguished Teaching of Art Award, College Art Association.
