Born in New York, NY, 1917, painter Nicolas Carone studied at the National Academy School of Fine Arts, Arts Students League, and the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Art. He has taught at Columbia University, Cooper Union, Brandeis University, Cornell College, Yale University, Maryland Institute, New York Studio School, and the Skowhegan School of Art. He lives and works in New York City and Perugia, Italy and is represented by the Rohin-Geduld Gallery and the David Findlay Jr. Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Butler Institute of American Art; SKG, Lenox, MA; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; Norton Museum of Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; and the Baltimore Museum of Art. He participated in the Ninth Street Show; Brussels World Fair; American Choice, Metropolitan Museu of Art; and Face to Face, David Findlay Jr. Gallery. His work is included in the collections of the Walker Art Center; University of New Mexico; High Museum; and the Butler Institute of American Art. He is the recipient of a Prix de Rome; Fulbright Fellowship; National Council on the Arts; and a New York State Council of the Arts Grant.
