Born in San Franciso, CA, 1929, Aldo Casanova received his BA and MA from San Francisco State University and earned a Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He taught for many years and is Professor Emeritus at Scripps College; in addition, he taught at San Francisco State University; Antioch College; Temple University; State University of New York, Albany; and at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. The artist lives and works in Claremont, CA.
Recent one-person exhibitions include Chaffey Art Association; and an upcoming Retrospective, Williamston Galleries, Claremont College. Selected group exhibitions include The New Vein, Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition; and Masterworks of American Sculpture: Selections from Members of the National Sculpture Society, Fleischer Museum, Scottsdale, AZ. His work is in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; Orange County Museum; Columbus Museum, OH; University of Judaism, Los Angeles; Fine Arts Museum, Colby College, ME; Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC; The Stanford Research Center; Scripps College; Ohio State University; Pomona College; and the Keck Science Center, Claremont College. Mr. Casanova is the recipient of a Prix de Rome Fellowship, American Academy in Rome; the Louis Comfort Tiffany Purchase Award, the Speyer Prize, and two Certificates of Merit at several National Academy of Design Annuals; and the Lindsay Morris Prize, and the Tallix Foundry Prize, National Sculpture Society.
