Born in Boston, MA, 1924, painter Bernard Chaet studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School with Karl Zerbe and Tufts University. He lives and works in New Haven, CT, and is represented by the David Findlay, Jr. Gallery, NY, and the Alpha Gallery, Boston, MA. Recent exhibitions include the David Findlay, Jr. Gallery; Alpha Gallery; Butler Institute of American Art; University of Richmond; Amherst College; New York Studio School; Cape Ann Historical Society; Corcoran Gallery of Art Bienial; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Biennial; and the Recent Drawing USA exhibition, Museum of Modern Art. His work is included in the collections of the American Academy of Arts & Letters; Boston Museum of Fine Arts; Baltimore Museum of Art; Hirshhorn Museum; Art Institute of Chicago; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He is the recipient of a Jimmy Ernst Award; American Academy of Arts & Letters Award; Benjamin Altman Prize, Edwin Palmer Memorial Prize, and a Henry Ward Ranger Purchase Prize, at the National Academy; and received an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts, Maryland Institute, College of Arts.
