Born in Newark, NJ, 1926, painter Carmen Cicero earned a BA at Kean College and attended Hunter College and Montclair University where he received his MFA. He has taught at Sarah Lawrence College and Montclair University. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the June Kelly Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include several shows at the June Kelly Gallery; Berta Walker Gallery; Provincetown Art Association and Museum, MA; Jenkins Johnson Gallery, San Francisco. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY; Fogg Museum of Art, Harvard University; Mint Museum, NC; National Museum of American Art; Newark Museum; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He is the recipient of a Purchase Prize, American Academy of Arts & Letters; two Guggenheim Fellowships; and two Ford Foundation Purchase Prizes.
