Graphic artist Warrington Colescott was born in Oakland, CA, 1921, and earned an AB and MA from the University of California, Berkeley, and also studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris, and the Slade School of Art, London. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He lives and works in Hollandale, WI, and is represented by the Perimeter Gallery, Chicago. Recent exhibitions include the Perimeter Gallery, Chicago; New Orleans Museum of Art; Milwaukee Art Museum; Peltz gallery, Milwaukee; Serigraph Galleries, NY; Galerie des Peintres Graveurs, Paris; San Francisco Museum of art; Whitney Museum of American Art; U.S. Embassy, Ankara, Turkey; Print Club, Philadelphia; and the Peacock Printmakers Gallery, Aberdeen, Scotland. His work is included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; Milwaukee Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Elvehjem Museum; San Francisco Museum of Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art; National Museum of American Art; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship; Guggenheim Fellowship; and four NEAGrants.
