Painter and printmaker Jack Coughlin was born in Greenwich, CT, 1932, and studied at the Art Students League, and earned a BFA and an MS from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He lives and works in Montague, MA, and is represented by the Michelson Gallery, Northampton, MA. Recent exhibitions include Springfield College; St. Michael's College; Michelson Gallery, University of Massachusetts, Amherst; St. Michael's College, VT; Provincetown Art Association; Kenny Gallery, Galway, Ireland; National Institute of Arts & Letters, NY; and the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, MA. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art; University of Ulster, North Ireland; National Gallery of Fine Arts, Washington, DC; Staedelisches Konstitut, Frankfort, Germany; and the Worcester Art Museum. He is the recipient of a Award for Printmaking, Purdue University; Madison Award for Etching, SAGA; New Jersey State Museum of Art Award for Etching; Etching Award, Purdue University; and the Helen M. Loggie Prize for Drawing, and a John Taylor Arms Memorial Prize, National Academy.
