Painter Daniel Dickerson was born in Jersey City, NJ, 1922, and studied at Cooper Union and earned an MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, followed by a year of travel and study in Europe. He has taught at the University of Oklahoma, Finch College, where he was chair of the art department, State University of New York, Old Westbury, Art Students League, and the National Academy School of Fine Arts. Recent exhibitions include ACA Gallery; Dintenfass Gallery; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Indianapolis Museum of Art; Herron Museum; American Academy of Arts & Letters; University of Illinois; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His work is included in the collections of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; Corcoran Gallery of Art; University of North Carolina; Adelphi University Museum; Wesleyan University; National Academy; and the Art Museum of Western Virginia. He is the recipient of an Audubon Artists Award; Silvermine Guild award; 1st Prize, Springfield Art Museum, MA; 1st Prize, Hartford Temple Show; Henry Ward ranger Purchase Prize, National Academy; a Fulbright Travel Grant to India; and a residency at the MacDowell Art Colony.
