HARVEY DINNERSTEIN, NA

Born in Brooklyn, NY, 1928, painter Harvey Dinnerstein studied at the High School of Music & Art, after graduation he studied painting with Moses Soyer and at the Art Students League with Yasuo Kuniyoshi and Julien Levy. He then attended Tyler Art School, Temple University. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts, National Academy School of Fine Arts, and currently at the Art Students League. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, and is represented by the Frey Norris Gallery, San Francisco, CA. Recent exhibitions have included a retrospective at the Butler Institute of American Art; Frey Norris Gallery, San Francisco;Gerold Wunderlich & Co., NY; and two traveling exhibitions, Treasures from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and In the Spirit of Martin, The Living Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Butler Institute of American Art; Smithsonian American Art Museum; Delaware Art Museum; De Young Museum; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He is the recipient of several American Academy of Arts & Letters Purchase Awards; Arthur Ross Award, Classical America; and an Honorary Doctorate, Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, CT.
