JOHN DOBBS, NA

Born in Nutley, NJ, 1931, painter John Dobbs studied at the Brooklyn Museum School and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. He is a Professor of Art at John Jay College, City University of New York, and has also taught at the Brooklyn Museum School, City College of New York, Art Students League, and the National Academy School of Fine Arts. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the ACA Gallery, NY, and the George Knevsky Gallery, San Francisco. Recent exhibitions include the Krevsky Gallery, San Francisco; Westbeth Gallery; ACA Galleries; Babcock Galleries; The Century Association; Susan Conway Gallery, Washington, DC; Bronx Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art; Butler Institute of American Art; Heckscher Museum; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His work is included in the collections of the Canton Museum of Art, OH; Fairleigh Dickinson University; Joseph Hirshhorn Collection; Montclair Museum of Art; Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY; Springfield Museum of Art; Syracuse Museum of Art; and Wichita State University. He is the recipient of an American Academy of Arts & Letters Award; numerous prizes, National Academy; Butler Institute of American Art Award; Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant; and the Lowe Award, Audubon Artists.
