Born in New York, NY, 1926, sculptor Neil Estern earned a BFA and a BS from the Tyler School of Fine Arts and did additional studies at the Barnes Foundation. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Century Association; National Sculpture Society; and the National Academy. Public commissions include John F. Kennedy Memorial, Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn; Senator Pepper Memorial, Tallahasee, FL; Mayor LaGuardia, Greenwich Village, NYC; Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Washington, DC; Irving Berlin, Music Box Theater, NY; and Eleanor Roosevelt, National Cathedral, Washington, DC. His work is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum of Art; and the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC. he is the recipient of a Presidential Award for Design Excellence for the FDR Memorial; Greenwich Vilalge Society Annual Award, LaGuardia statue; Mildred Vincent Prize and the Lindsey Morrris Prize, National Sculpture Society; 1st Prize, Kent Art Association; and the Maynard Award, Dessie Greer Prize, and the Samuel F.B. Morse Gold Medal from the National Academy.
