Born in Kansas City, MO, 1933, sculptor Lawrence Fane studied at the Boston Museum School and earned a BA from Harvard University. He has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and is Professor Emeritus, Queens College, City University of New York. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the Kouros Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the American Academy of Arts & Letters, NY; Marsh Gallery, University of Richmond; Muscarelle Museum of Art, College of William and Mary; Chamot Gallery, Jersey City, NJ; Kouros Gallery, NY; Jaffe-Friede & Straus Galleries, Dartmouth College; Ben Shahn galleries, William Patterson College; Bill Bace Gallery; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Palm Beach Museum of Art; Hudson River Museum; and the Marilyn Pearl Gallery. His work is included in the collections of the Rhode Island School of Design; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Museum of Contemporary American Art, Udine, Italy; Museum of the University of Massachusetts; and the Weatherspoon Gallery of Art, Public commissions include Fountain for Villa San Lorenzo, Assisi, Italy; and outdoor sculpture for the Museum of Art, Lincoln, MA. He is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Grant; several Research Grants, CUNY; Ingram-Merrill Foundation Fellowship; and the Rome Prize, American Academy in Rome.
