Born in Boston, MA, 1938, painter Janet Fish earned a BA and MA from Smith College and earned a BFA and MFA from Yale University. She lives and works in New York City and is represented by the DC Moore Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the DC Moore Gallery; Ogunquit Museum of American Art; The Century Association; Columbus Museum, GA; Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art; Yellowstone Art Center, MT; Museum of Arts & Sciences, Macon, GA; Art Institute of Chicago; Bruce Museum; Indiana State University; Brattleboro Museum & Art Center; National Academy; and the Aspen Art Museum, CO. Her work is included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; Albright-Knox Art Gallery; American Academy of arts & Letters; Hecksher Museum of Art; Yale University Art Gallery; Australian National Gallery, Canberra; Cleveland Museum of Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is the recipient of an Obrig Prize and a Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Award, National Academy; American Academy of Art & Letters Award; Outstanding Woman in the Arts Award, Aspen Art Museum; and a residency at the MacDowell Art Colony.
