Born in Brooklyn, NY, 1924, painter Jane Freilicher studied at the Hans Hofmann School of Art and earned a BA from Brooklyn College and an MA from Columbia University. She lives and works in New York City and is represented by the Tibor de Nagy Gallery, New York. Recent exhibitions include numerous shows at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery; Reynolds Gallery, Richmond, VA; Parrish Art Museum; Arnot Museum; Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial; and most recently The Artist's Eye: Jane Freilicher as Curator, and A Painter in the City, National Academy. Her work is included in the collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Parrish Art Museum; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is the recipient of a Benjamin West Clinedinst Memorial Medal; 12th Annual Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award, Guild Hall Museum; and elected Vice-President of Art on the Board of Director's, American Academy of Arts and Letters.
