Born in New York, NY, 1943, painter Barbara Grossman earned a BFA from Cooper Union, did additional studies at Yale University, and received a Diplomate from the Academie der Kunst, Munich, Germany. She has taught at Western Carolina University, University of Pennsylvania, New York Studio School, Western Connecticut State University, and the National Academy School of Fine Arts. She lives and works in Watertown, CT, and is represented by the Bowery Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include A Survey, Wright State University, and traveled to Lafayette College, Washington & Lee Unviersity, and the New York Studio School; New Arts Gallery, CT; Atrium Gallery, Union College; Hollins University; About Paint, Westport Arts Center; Lohin-Geduld Gallery; Dartmouth College; numerous shows at the Bowery Gallery; Wayne Art Center, PA; Pennsylvania School of Art and Design; Pagsagio Gallery, CT; New Britain Museum of Art; Butler Institute of American Art; 55 Mercer Street Gallery; State Museum of Pennsylvania; and the New York Studio School. Her work is included in the collections of the Arkansas Art Center; Hood Museumr; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Housatonic Museum; State Museum of Pennsylvania; Mattatuck Museum; and the Weatherspoon Art Gallery. She is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, Germany; Ingram-Merrill Foundation Grant; Connecticut Commission on the Arts; and the Adolph Obrig Prize and Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Award, National Academy.
