Born in New York, NY, 1946, Nona Hershey studied at the Diploma Istituto Statale D'Arte, Urbino, Italy and Yoshida Hanga Academy, Tokyo, Japan, and earned a BFA and an MFA from the Tyler School of Art. She lives and works in Somerville, MA, and is represented by the Dolan/Maxwell Gallery, Philadelphia.

Recent one-person exhibitions include multiple shows at the Miller Block Gallery, Boston; Galleria Il Ponte, Rome; Mary Ryan Gallery. New York; Dolan/Maxwell Gallery; and the Palazzo Sormani, Milan. Selected group exhibitions include Ljubljana Biennial; Brooklyn Museum Biennial; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Taipei Fine Art Museum Biennial; Attelboro Museum, RI; and the Rose Art Museum, MA. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Fogg Museum; Library of Congress; Cracow National Museum; Minnesota Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art; and the Yale University Art Gallery. She has had print editions published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Associated American Artists; Mary Ryan Gallery; Dolan/Maxwell Gallery; and the Palazzo Sormani, Milan, Italy. She is the recipient of a MacDowell Colony Fellowship; Ucross Foundation Grant; and a Ballinglen Foundation Grant.
