Born in Chicago, IL, 1935, sculptor Richard Hunt studied at the University of Illinois, University of Chicago, and earned a BAE from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He lives and works in Chicago and has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Illinois, Chicago, Northwestern University, Harvard University, and Cornell University. He is the president and founder of the Chicago Sculpture Society, director of the International Sculpture Center, and is on the National Board of Directors, Smithsonian Institute. Recent exhibitions include the Mary Pauline Gallery, Augusta, GA; Krasl Art Center, St. Joseph, MI; and the Meijer Sculpture Garden, Grand Rapids, MI. His work is included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Modern Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Cleveland Museum of Art; Los Angeles County Museum; Detroit Institute; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship; Tamarind Lithography Workshop Fellowship; Ford Foundation Grant; and has won numerous prizes at the Art Institute of Chicago. He holds honorary degrees from Columbia College, Chicago; Roosevelt University, Chicago; School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and Northwestern University.
