Born in New Jersey, 1927, painter Morton Kaish earned a BFA at Syracuse University, with additional studies at the Academie de la Grand Chaumiere, Paris, and the Accademie delle Belle Arti, Rome. He has taught at Boston University, Columbia University, Queens College, Philadelphia College of Art, School of Visual Arts, and Parsons School of Design. He has been appointed Faculty Exchange Scholar of the State University of New York and is a professor in the School of Art and Design, FIT/SUNY.He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the Irving Galleries, Palm Beach, FL. Recent exhibitions include the Hollis Taggert Galleries, NY; Oxford Gallery, Rochester, NY; Guild Hall Museum, NY; and numerous shows at the Staempfli Gallery, NY. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Smithsonian American Art Museum; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Newark Museum; Rocester Memorial Art Gallery; New Britain Museum of American Art; Guild Hall; The Fitzwilliam Museum; and the British Museum, London. He is the recipient of an Artist in Residence, Dartmouth College; Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievement in the Visual Arts, Syracuse University; Altman Prize, Gervasi Award, Paton Award, and the Obrig Prize, National Academy; and a State University of New York Research Grant in Experimental Media.
