Born in Boston, MA, 1925, painter Reed Kay studied at the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston. He has taught at the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston, Boston University, and the SkowheganSchool of Painting and Sculpture. He lives and works in Brookline, MA, and is represented by the Alpha Gallery, Boston. Recent exhibitions include the Alpha Gallery, Boston; Cape Ann Historical Museum, MA; Eli Marsh Gallery, Amherst College; Greenough School, MA; Circle Gallery, Washington, DC; Boston University Gallery; DeCordova Museum; The Boston Athenaeum; The Danforth Museum; The Visionary Decade, DeCordova Museum; Against the Grain, University of New Hampshire; and the Newport Art Museum. His work is included in the collections of Boston Public Library; Cape Ann Historical Museum; and the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University. He is the recipient of an NEA Grant; and a Gorham Press Award. He is the author of several books including The Painter's Guide to Studio Methods and Materials; Painting Materials and Techniques; and The Painter's Companion.
