NATHANIEL KAZ, NA

Born in New York, NY, 1917, sculptor Nathaniel Kaz studied with sculptor Samuel Cashwan, Detroit, MI, and at the Detroit School of Arts and Crafts and continued his studies at the Cooper Union, Art Students League, and with Aaron Ben Schmuel. He has taught at the Art Students League. He lives and works in New York City and Pietrasanto, Italy, and is a founding member of the Sculptors Guild, Audubon Artists, and the Allied Artists of America. Recent exhibitions include the Downtown Gallery; Associated American Artists Galleries; Art Students League; Grand Central Moderns; Joan Avnet Gallery; Whitney Museum of American Art; The Human Figure in transition, Metropolitan Museum of Art; and the Art Institute of Chicago. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Grey Art Gallery, New York University; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He is the recipient of a first prize in the United Nations competition; and the Saltus Prize, National Academy.
