Born in New York, NY, 1931, graphic artist Robert Kipniss studied at Wittenberg University and earned a BA from the University of Iowa. He lives and works in Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY, and Sharon, CT, and is represented by the Weinstein Gallery, San Francisco, Redfern, London, and the Old Print Shop, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Old Print Shop Gallery, NY; New Orleans Museum of Art; Beadleston Gallery; Hirschl & Adler Gallery; FAR Gallery; Museum o f Modern Art, Cali, Columbia; Butler Institute of American Art; Wichita Art Museum; Whitney Museum of American Art; British Museum, England; Tyler Museum of Art, TX; and an upcoming retrospective at the Springfield Art Museum, MO. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; British Museum, London; Victoria and Albert Museum, England; Springfield Art Museum; Biblioteque Nationale, Paris, France; Cleveland Museum of Art; New Orleans Museum of Art; Houston Museum of Art; and Fitzwilliam Museum, England. He is the recipient of a Speicher-Hassam Purchase Award, American Academy of Arts & Letters; and has received Honorary Doctorates from Wittenberg University and Illinois College.
