Born in Somerville, NJ, 1942, painter Joyce Kozloff earned a BFA from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and an MFA from Columbia University. She has taught at Rhode Island School of Design, Vermont College, Rutgers University, and currently is at Yale University. She lives and works in New York City and is represented by the DC Moore Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia; Boy's Art and Other Works, DC Moore Gallery; Topographies, Contemporary Art Center of Virginia; List Gallery, Swarthmore College; Otis Art Gallery, CA; Butler Institute of American Art; College of William and Mary; Sidney Mishkin Gallery, Baruch College; Midtown Payson Gallery; Artemesia Gallery, Chicago; Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art; and the Lorence-Monk Gallery, NY. Her work is included in the collections of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Fogg Art Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art; National Gallery of Art; Smithsonian American Art Museum; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is the recipient of a Bogliasco Foundation Grant; Jules Gerin Fellowship, Rome Prize, American Academy in Rome; MacDowell Art Colony Fellowship; Rockefeller Foundation Grant; and several CAPS Grants.
