Born in 1919, painter Joe Lasker studied at Cooper Union and taught briefly at the University of Illinois. He lives and works in Norwalk, CT, and is represented by Kraushaar Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Whitney Museum of American Art; and the National Academy. His work is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Springfield Museum of Art, MA; Baltimore Museum of Art; Hirshhorn Museum; California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Commissions include murals for the Post Office in Calumet, MI; and the Henry Street Playhouse, NY. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, Prix de Rome; Tupperware Fellowship; and several awards at the National Academy.
