Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, 1923, painter Knox Martin studied at the Art Students League. He has taught at the Art Students League, and Yale University Graduate School. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the Janos Gat Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include Caprichos and Black and White, Janos Gat Gallery, NY; and Garden of Time, Spain and New York. His work is included in the collections of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; Whitney Museum of American Art; and a mural commission in Greenwich Village. He is a recipient of a Adolph Gottlieb Grant; Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant; CAPS Grant; and an NEA Grant.
