Born in Visalia, CA, 1932, painter Don Nice earned a BFA from the University of Southern California and earned an MFA from Yale University. He has taught at the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts, Huntington Museum of Art, National Academy School of Fine Arts, and the School of Visual Arts, where he was dean. He lives and works in Garrison, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Babcock Galleries; Albany Institute of History and Art; Dorsky Museum; New-York Historical Society; Art Institute of Chicago; Hudson River Museum; Huntington Museum; Lincoln Center, NY; and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. His work is included in the Albany Institute of History & Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; New-York Historical Society; Art Institute of Chicago; Jewish Museum; Museum of Modern Art; National Academy; Arnheim Museum, Netherlands; Whitney Museum of Ameriacn Art; and the National Museum of Art, Canberra. Public commissions include 30 foot murals for the XIII Olympic Games in Lake Placid and an Art in Architecture, Veterans Administration Mural. He is the recipient of a Ford Foundation Grant and a Whitney Museum of American Art Purchase Award.
