Born in Charleston, MO, 1918, painter Stephen Pace studied with Hans Hofmann and at the Art Students League. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the Katharina Rich Perlow Gallery, NY. He has had numerous shows at the Katharina Rich Perlow Gallery; Portland Museum of Art; Farnsworth Art Museum; Mandeville Gallery, Union College; Bates College Museum of Art; and his work is included in the collections of the Yale University Art Gallery; New Orleans Museum of Art; Oberlin College; American University, DC; Indianapolis Museum of Art; Corcoran gallery of Art; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Phillips Collection; and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. He is the recipient of the Jimmy Ernst Award, American Academy of Arts & Letters; Guggenheim Fellowship; several awards, National Academy; and has received Honorary Doctorates from the University of Southern Indiana and Maine College of Art; and an upcoming one from the Maine College of Art.
