Born in Philadelphia, PA, painter and graphic artist Peter Paone studied at the Barnes Foundation and earned a BA from the Philadelphia College of Art, where he first taught. He also taught at the Positano Art School, Italy, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and Pratt Institute. He lives and works in Philadelphia. Recent exhibitions include Kennedy Gallery; Jersey City Museum; James A. Michener Art Museum; Forum Gallery; Grippi Gallery; Fort Worth Art Museum; Amarillo Arts Center; El Paso Museum of Art; Jessop Gallery, London; Dorsky Gallery; Butler Institute of American Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Galerie des Peintres Graveur, Paris; Musee d'Art Moderne, Paris; and the L'Escuela Nacional de Arts Plastica, Mexico. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Princeton University; Library of Congress; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Art Institute of Chicago; Butler Institute of American Art; British Museum, London; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.He is the recipient of a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant; Mid-Atlantic Foundation; and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
