ROBERT ANDREW PARKER, NA

Born in Norfolk, VA, 1927, painter and watercolorist Robert Andrew Parker studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and Atelier 17, NY. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts, New School, Rhode Island School of Design, and Pratt Institute. He lives and works in West Cornwall, CT, and is represented by Davis-Langdale Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Brooklyn Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art; New School for Social Research; School of Visual Arts; and the Whitney Museum of American Art; Laon Museum, Aisne, France. His work is included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art; Morgan Library; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He has designed sets for the W. Shuman Opera Company and for the Museum of Modern Art. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship; Tamarind Lithography Workshop Fellowship; and a Rosenthal Foundation award.
