Born in Boston, MA, 1920, sculptor Marion Roller studied at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston and the Art Students League, NY, and earned a BA from Brooklyn College, City University of New York. She lives and works in New York City and has taught at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Traphagen School of Fashion, where she was Head of the Design Department, Art Students League, and the Sculpture Center in New York. Recent exhibitions include the 68th National Sculpture Society Exhibition; Butler Institute of American Art; Brookgreen Gardens; Fleischer Museum, AZ; Hillsdale College, MI; United Nations; Audubon Artists; Candian Museum, Ottawa; and the Allied Artists. Commissions include creating a medal for the Butler Institute of American Art; portrait head for the Nassau Center for Emotionally Disturbed Children; large scale bronze monument, St. Mary's Children and Family Services; relief portrait of Ethel Traphagen and a bronze medal commemorating the 60th anniversary of the school,Traphagen School of Fashion; and the Artist's Lifetime Achievement Award Medal for the National Academy of Design. She is the recipient of numerous awards from the National Sculpture Society; Charlotte Dunwiddie Award for Medallic Art and a Margaret Sussman 1st Prize, The Pen & Brush; Chaim Gross Foundation Award, Audubon Artists; awards at the National Academy of Design; and was the first Sculptor-in-Residence, Brookgreen Gardens, SC.
