Born in Philadelphia, PA, 1945, painter Joseph Santore earned a BFA at the Philadelphia College of Art and an MFA from Yale University. He has taught at the New York Studio School, Yale University, Parsons School of Design, and Bard College. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by the Edward Thorp Gallery, NY. Recent exhibitions include the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Edward Thorp Gallery; Phoenix Art Museum; Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art; Snug Harbor Cultural Center; Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial; and the National Academy. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Phoenix Museum of Art; Yale University Art Gallery; Cincinnati Museum of Art; Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art; Hunter Museum; and the Tucson Museum of Art, AZ. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship; Ingram Merrill Foundation Grant; American Academy of Arts & Letters Award; painting prize, National Academy; and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant.
