Born in Media, PA, 1927, painter William Scharf studied at the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Academie de la Grand Chaumiere, Paris. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts, San Francisco Institute of Fine Arts, and currently teaches at the Art Students League. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by Meredith Ward Fine Art. Recent exhibitions include the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art, CA; Richard York Gallery, NY; The Phillips Collection; University of Michigan Museum of Art; St. Peter's Church, NY; Manhattanville College; Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson; High Museum of Art; Neuberger Museum; Anita Shapolsky Gallery; Denise Bibro Fine Art; and the Zimmerli Museum, Rutgers University. His work is included in the collections of the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Solomon R.
