Born in New York, NY, 1929, painter Daniel Bennett Schwartz studied at the High School of Music & Art, Art Students League, and the Rhode Island School of Design. He lives and works in New York City and has taught at the Parsons School of Design and at private workshops. Recent exhibitions include the Hudson River Gallery; Hammer Galleries; Armstrong Gallery; Babcock Gallery; Maxwell Gallery, San Francisco; Albany Institute of History and Art; American Academy of Arts & Letters; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Butler Institute of American Art. His work is included in the collections of the The Century Association; British Museum, London; Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute; National Portrait Gallery; Bates College Museum of Art; and the New Britain Museum of Art. He is the recipient of the Benjamin Altman Prize and the Obrig Prize, National Academy; award, Salmagundi Club; Hassam Fund Purchase Prize, American Academy of Arts & Letters; and two Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grants.
