Born in Brooklyn, NY, 1928, painter Burton Silverman studied at Columbia University, Pratt Institute, and the Art Students League. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts and the National Academy School of Fine Arts and lives and works in New York City. He is represented in New York by Gallery Henoch. Recent exhibitions include Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Butler Institute of American Art; Gallery Henoch, NY; Total Arts Gallery, Taos, NM; American Watercolor Society; and the Wadsworth Athenaeum. His work is included in the collections of the New Britain Museum of American Art; Denver Art Museum; Columbus Museum; Mint Museum; Butler Institute of American Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Smithsonian American Art Museum; and the National Portrait Gallery. He is the recipient of awards from the National Academy, Portrait Society of America; American Watercolor Society; and an Honorary Doctorate from the Academy of Art College, San Francisco.
