Born in Brooklyn, NY, 1939, painter Jerome Witkin studied at the High School of Music & Art, NY, Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, Cooper Union, and earned an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. He lives and works in Syracuse, NY, and is represented by Jack Rutberg Fine Arts, Los Angeles. Recent exhibitions include several shows at Jack Rutberg Fine Arts; University o fIowa; University of Louisville; Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute; Lakeland Museum of Art, FL; Calvin College, MI; and Loyola-Marymount University, LA. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Everson Museum; U.S. Holocaust Museum; and the Uffizzi Museum, Italy. He is the recipient of a Ford Foundation Grant; Guggenheim Fellowship; and a Lifetime Achievement Award, Cooper Union.
