Born in Boston, MA, 1939, painter Richard Yarde earned a BFA and MFA from Boston University. Hew has taught at the University of Massachusetts, University of Boston, Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts College of Art, Amherst College, and Wellesley College.He lives and works in Amherst, MA, and is represented by the Stella Jones Gallery, New Orleans, LA. Recent exhibitions include the College of Art, Boston; Ringshout, Worcester Museum of Art; Museum of Northampton; Studio Museum on Harlem; June Kelly Gallery; Mount Holyoke College Museum; Baltimore Museum of Art; New Museum of Contemporary Art; Wichita Art Museum; and the Currier Gallery of Art. His work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Smithsonian American Art Museum; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Studio Museum in Harlem; Wadsworth Athenaeum; and the Newark Museum of Art. He is the recipient of a Commonwealth Award; American Academy of Arts & Letters Award; a GSA mural commission, Washington, DC; and an Honorary Doctorate from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston; and was Honoree, Studio Museum in Harlem.
