AN ARTIST’S LIFE, with KATY SIEGEL Thursday, May 29th at 6:30 pm Katy Siegel, Associate Professor of Art History and Criticism at Hunter College, leads a discussion with contemporary artists, Julie Heffernan, David Reed, and Danielle Tegeder to examine the trajectory of their careers and the personal pathways they have chosen. This panel is presented in concert with the 183rd Annual: An Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary American Art, May 29 – September 7, 2008. BEYOND NEOPLASTICISM: MONDRIAN AND AMERICAN ART The Richard York Memorial Lecture Wednesday, June 18th at 6:30 pm Beyond his well known influence on geometric art, Mondrian's impact on American art makes itself evident in a surprising group of American modernists including Arthur Dove, John Marin, Stuart Davis and Jackson Pollack, among others. Join William Agee, freelance historical writer and Professor of Art History at Hunter College, CUNY, for the second season of special lectures on topics in American art dedicated to the memory of Richard York.
