School Director's Welcome At the National Academy School of Fine Arts, students have a unique opportunity to work in studios with natural light under the instruction of a highly qualified faculty in a small class environment. In addition to our many varied classes, we offer a variety of workshops, lectures, master critiques, studio and museum visits. A crucial component of the school programs are the student exhibitions. A Mid-year Student Exhibition is held in the school after the first semester. Prizes from this show are awarded to students whose work is selected by a jury .The highlight of the school year is the Year-end Juried Student Exhibition held in the National Academy Museum Prizes are awarded at a special ceremony at the exhibition reception. Class exhibitions are installed by students in the student lounge during the year. The school is offering a new program leading to a Diploma in Fine Arts. The broad-based curriculum including drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking, will be chosen by the student in collaboration with an artist mentor, based on the applicant's skills and goals. Students will work towards a final solo exhibition in the National Academy Museum. For more information on applying to the program click here. There are many opportunities for financial aid, through monitoring, the work-study program, and scholarships. Scholarship competitions are held three times a year and awards of over $130,000 are given to deserving students of all ages. Our collaboration with the Newington-Cropsey Foundation enables us to offer annual summer scholarships to Florence, Italy, greatly enriching the participant's art historical and cultural experience. If you have not visited the school, please call us for more information and a personal tour at 212.996.1908. We look forward to welcoming you. Nancy Little School Director |
