The National Academy Abroad: Information Session .
Informational session on Wednesday, March 25, 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Location: the Assembly Hall
Join us on March 25 to learn about the Academy Abroad. This summer the National Academy is again transporting its nurturing environment abroad in what promises to be a true creative expedition encompassing many of the most beautiful and artistically significant sites in Italy. For two weeks, the land that spawned some of civilization’s greatest artists, architects, writers, composers, philosophers and scientists will be your expansive studio, whether your passion is painting, drawing, sculpture, writing, film/video, art history or other fields of study and discovery.
Led by National Academy Creative Director Maurizio Pellegrin, cited in the media as “Venice’s best-known living artist,” the National Academy Abroad will take participants to Venice, Lake Como, Tuscany, Umbria and Rome, with each day’s itinerary including visits sites, museums, art and artifacts that are the touchstones of civilization. Each day will also afford plenty of time for personal thought, reflection and artistic explorations, as well as an abundance of the food, wine, music, charm and inspiration for which Italy has long been revered. The days in Venice will be devoted to touring the Venice Biennale, the premier showcase for contemporary art in the world and highly anticipated international festival of the arts.
A reception to follow in the Sonia Gechtoff Gallery.
